How it works
Tamoxifen is a selective estrogen receptor modulator. In breast tissue it occupies the estrogen receptor without switching it on, so estrogen cannot drive the growth and tenderness of that tissue.

Tamoxifen's approved uses are breast-cancer treatment and specified risk-reduction settings; gynecomastia is off-label, and the cited evidence is a small crossover trial, so not every man responds.
